Wild Area is a new Pokémon Go event to add to your calendar, bringing both an in-person and Global event for players to partake in.
For this first outing, Go Wild Area 2024: Global is themed around Electric and Poison-type Pokémon to celebrate the release of Toxel and Toxtricity in Pokémon Go. There's also the new Mighty Pokémon - powerful versions of already released Pokémon like Mamoswine - to catch using the new GO Safari Balls. Not to forget about a range of bonuses and other activities.
To help you learn everything about this new event, we've outlined the Go Wild Area date and start time, ticket price and an overview of the event activities - both free-to-play and ticketed - down below.
On this page:
The Go Wild Area 2024: Global event is running on Saturday 23rd November and Sunday 24th November. The event will start at 10am (local time) and finish at 6:15pm (local time) on both days.
Go Wild Area 2024: Global is running a week after the in-person version of the event in Fukuoka, Japan on Saturday 16th November and Sunday 17th November. Joining the in-person event will grant you early access to the Go Wild Area activities, but you will need to visit (or live in) Japan to take part!
Going back to the Global version of the Wild Area event, every player will have the chance to add both Toxel and Toxtricity to their Pokédex. There will also be new Mighty Pokémon to catch and both Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia will be making their return in five-star raids. Purchasing a ticket for Wild Area Global will grant you access to a special research quest and an additional set of bonuses.
Let's take a more in-depth look at both the free and pay-to-play activities running through Go Wild Area 2024: Global…
The Max Out Season is here. The new global event, Wild Area, is nearly here and In the Wild is our lead-up event, which includes the global release of Toxel. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest.Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.
Go Wild Area 2024: Global has a range of free-to-play activities for you to enjoy in Pokémon Go, including the chance to catch new Pokémon, bonuses and the release of Mighty Pokémon.
Here's everything we know about the free-to-play activities in Go Wild Area 2024: Global so far:
The Go Wild Area marks the release of Toxel and Toxtricity in Pokémon Go. Both of these Gen 7 Pokémon are Electric and Poison-type Pokémon. What sets Toxtricity apart, however, is that it has two forms - Low Key and Amped. You'll be able to get both forms in Pokémon Go and may even encounter their shiny forms!
Toxel will be in 10km eggs during the Go Wild Area event. Due to this, you may want to consider buying an event ticket as one of the bonuses it includes is having the hatch distance for any egg you place in an Incubator halved. This way you'll be able to really cut down on the amount of time you spend trying to catch a Toxel.
Both the Amped and Low Key forms of Toxtricity will be appearing in four-star raids though, so you can always jump ahead to that second stage evolution. Not only that but the Dynamaxed version of both forms will also be appearing in Max Battles. Remember - Pokémon earned from Max Battles can be shiny, so you might get very lucky indeed.
You'll also be able to battle Gigantamax Toxtricity during Wild Area 2024!
Alongside being able to able to battle both Amped and Low Key Toxtricity in Max Battles, you'll also have the chance to defeat Dynamax Drilbur and Excadrill during Go Wild Area 2024: Global.
Mighty Pokémon are a new Pokémon variant you'll encounter during Go Wild Area 2024: Global. What sets Mighty Pokémon apart from the rest is that they're far more powerful from the regular Pokémon you can catch in the wild.
Mighty Pokémon are more likely to have high Attack, Defence and HP stats. In keeping with these higher stats, they're also more likely to be either XL or XXL size. You may even encounter a shiny Mighty Pokémon! The downside? Mighty Pokémon are more difficult to catch. Though there will be a new Poké Ball released during the Wild Area event to help combat this problem, which we cover further along in this guide.
The Mighty Pokémon you will encounter in the wild will also change between Saturday or Sunday, so it's a good idea to know when each one is making an appearance if you're planning on catching them.
Here are the Mighty Pokémon appearing on Saturday:
Here are the Mighty Pokémon appearing on Sunday:
Go Wild Area 2024 wouldn't be a global Pokémon Go event if it didn't have habitat hours! Go Wild Area Global will have two habitat hours and, to celebrate the release of Toxtricity, one will be themed around Electric-types, while the other will focus on Poison-type Pokémon.
Mighty Pokémon can appear during either habitat hour, but will differ depending on the day you're playing. We've outlined the Mighty Pokémon spawns above!
For now, let's take a look at the Pokémon spawning during the Electric Hour:
And here are the Pokémon spawning during the Poison Hour:
The Go Wild Area event marks the release of a new Poké Ball in Pokémon Go - the GO Safari Ball.
These new Poké Balls keep the classic camouflage design of the Safari Balls found in the mainline Pokémon series, with the added bonus of having 'GO' printed on the side. GO Safari Balls are described as being 'highly effective' which makes them perfect for capturing the new Mighty Pokémon.
Every player will receive a Timed Research task during Go Wild Area, which will reward them with a small number of Go Safari Balls. Though you may find yourself earning some additional balls by spinning PokéStops. (If you're lucky that is...)
If you've purchased a event for the event, you'll get a Timed Research task every hour which will reward you these additional GO Safari Balls. The catch? You must complete and receive the rewards from this task during this hour or else it will expire, taking your Safari Balls with it. Just keep that one hour deadline in mind!
Finally, and more importantly, it's important to remember that any unused GO Safari Balls with expire at 6:15pm (local time) on each day of the event. This means that your GO Safari Balls do not overlap over the two event days, nor outside of the event, so you must use them before each event day comes to a close.
Pokémon will be appearing in three, four and five-star raids throughout Go Wild Area 2024: Global. It's important to note that the Pokémon appearing in three-star raids will change from Saturday to Sunday.
Most notably, this event marks the first time Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia make a return since Go Tour: Sinnoh earlier this year! So, if you missed out on either of these Pokémon, now is the time to catch them to gain access to the Roar of Time and Spacial Rend Adventure Effects.
Here are the Pokémon appearing in raids during Go Wild Area 2024: Global:
Three Star | Four Star | Five Star | Primal Raids |
---|---|---|---|
Saturday:
| Amped Form Toxtricity | Origin Forme Dialga | Primal Kyogre |
Sunday:
| Low Key Form Toxtricity | Origin Forme Palkia | Primal Groudon |
As mentioned previously, you'll also be able to battle the Dynamaxed version of Amped Form and Low Key Form Toxtricity in Max Battles during Go Wild Area: Global.
Another major feature of any global Pokémon Go event is costume Pokémon and Wild Area doesn't want to feel left out in this regard either. Let's start with the new costume Pokémon first...
While it doesn't have a motorbike (yet), Snorlax certainly knows how to wear this studded jacket. You'll be able to encounter this special Pokémon during the Global Wild Area event and might even find a shiny one. Personally, I'm wondering if this is a call back to how a sleeping Snorlax blocked your way to the cycling road in the Gen 1 Pokémon games...
Every player will have access to the following four bonuses during the Go Wild Area 2024: Global event hours:
A number of Pokémon will have featured attacks during Go Wild Area 2024: Global, which can be earned by either catching a Pokémon which knows said attack or via evolution.
The Pokémon in question and their featured attacks are:
This event marks the first release of new hairstyles in Pokémon Go! Inspired by Toxtricity and it's two different forms, these haircuts allow you to rock a punk look in Pokémon Go, especially if you pair them with the new host of Team Yell clothes. Six Team Yell avatar items have been added in total - Team Yell Top, Top (Cropped), Pants, Skirt, Gloves and Shoes.
The Pokémon Go Wild area 2024 Tee for your avatar will go on sale in the in-shop.
All of these items, along with a new pose, will be for sale from Friday 15th November onwards. Yet, if you have a ticket, you'll be able to obtain the pose by finishing the Special Research quest.
Purchasing a ticket for Go Wild Area 2024: Global will grant you access to a number of extra activities you can enjoy throughout the event.
As is tradition, purchasing an event ticket will unlock an exclusive Special Research quest for you to complete during Go Wild Area 2024: Global. The quest in question will also be a branching quest, allowing you to choose between a path focused around Electric-types or one themed around Poison.
The main reason you might want to purchase a Go Wild Area 2024: Global event is all of the additional bonuses it will unlock. There's quite a few so we've listed them down below for you:
Go Wild Area 2024: Global also marks the return of Pop Star and Rock Star Pikachu. This is the first time we've seen these Pokémon since their release during Go Fest 2021. Unless you did some trading, players could only obtain one of these muscial Pikachus during that event so, whether you're missing a Pop Star, Rock Star or both, make sure you catch them during Wild Area. Like Studded Jacket Snorlax, both of these costumed Pikachus can be shiny too!
Ticket holders can catch either Pop Star or Rock Star Pikachu by finishing the Collection Challenges or taking a Go Snapshot during Go Wild Area. The Special Research quest will also reward you with one Pikachu encounter, the music genre being decided by your choice of path - the Electric path rewards with Pop Star Pikachu, while Poison rewards with Rock Star Pikachu.
Completing the ticket-exclusive Special Research quest will give you the opportunity to earn the new Go Wild Area 2024 Pose for free!
Finally, while not part of the main itself, purchasing your Go Wild ticket before Tuesday 22nd October will grant you access to a Timed Research quest. Completing said quest will grant you early access to the Toxel Mask avatar item. Just make sure you play Pokémon between Tuesday 15th October and Tuesday 22nd October to unlock the quest. (And then complete it before the deadline…)
A ticket for Go Wild Area 2024: Global costs £11.99, $11.99 or the equivalent in your local currency.
Tickets are on sale now in both the in-game shop and from the web store. You'll also be able to purchase a ticket during the event itself if you decide you want to partake in the paid version of the event. As always, it's important to remember that tickets are non-refundable and can not be purchased using PokéCoin.
It is possible to gift a Wild Area event to another player.
If you purchase a Go Wild Area ticket before Tuesday 22nd October, then play Pokémon Go between this date and Tuesday 15th October, you'll unlock a Timed Research quest. Completing this quest before its deadline will grant you early access to the Toxel Mask avatar item.
There are two ways to purchase a Go Wild Area 2024: Global ticket - in-game or through the web store. Though, no matter which method you choose, the price will always remain the same!
If you want to purchase your ticket in-game, open the store via the main menu and select the Go Wild Area 2024: Global banner. (It has a logo and everything.) Now, you'll need to select 'Buy' and follow the purchase instructions for your specific device. The event's ticket will now appear in your Item Bag and you'll receive its dedicated medal a few days before the event begins.
For the web store, you first need to head to its dedicated website. Once there you need to select the 'Go Wild Area Ticket option'. (Depending on when you purchase your ticket, this may be called 'Go Wild Area Ultra Ticket Box', which will offer additional items alongside your event ticket for no extra cost.) If you haven't done so already, you'll now have to log in before following the payment instructions. With that completed, you can also expect to get the Go Wild Area 2024: Global medal a couple of days before the event starts.
Hope you enjoy Pokémon Go's first ever Wild Area event!
