Enamorus has made its Pokemon GO return in its Incarnate form to be one of the latest 5-Star Raid bosses, which you’ll need to assemble the right team of counters to target its weaknesses and when.
After making its debut in the game during the Carnival of Love Valentine’s Day event, Enamorus has been elusive as it is a challenging raid boss, courtesy of its high Attack stat worthy of a Legendary. Be that as it may, its interesting mix of typing gives it a handful of vulnerabilities Trainers with a keen eye can exploit.
Let’s dig into how to easily beat Enamorus, along with whether it can be Shiny in Pokemon GO.
In Pokemon GO, Incarnate is a dual Fairy- and Flying-type, making it have a weakness each to Electric-, Ice-, Poison-, Rock-, and Steel-type attacks – each dealing 160% super-effective damage.
On the other hand, this Legendary Pokemon has even more resistances than weaknesses. In Pokemon GO, Enamorus is strong against Dark-, and Grass-type moves for 63% damage compared to normal – followed by Bug-, Dragon-, Fighting-, and Ground-type moves which only inflict 39% damage.
Pokemon | Type | Weaknesses | Strong Against | Resistances |
---|---|---|---|---|
![]() Incarnate Enamorus | Fairy/Flying | Poison Steel Electric Ice Rock | Dragon Fighting Dark Grass Poison Bug Ghost Dark Ground Rock Water | Grass Fighting Bug Dragon Dark |
While it’s easy to think having five weaknesses gives you a lot of options for suitable counters, Enamorus’ broad potential moveset in Pokemon GO gives it a lot of type coverage that narrows down your options.
For example, Enamorus has the Fairy-type Dazzling Gleam and the Flying-type move, Fly, in its moveset as expected of its type – meaning it would be ill-advised to use Fighting-, Dragon-, Dark-, Bug-, and Grass-types.
However, it can also use the Psychic-type move, Zen Headbutt, as a Fast Attack, meaning it can quickly blow away any Poison-type counters you would have planned on using.
If you wanted to try adding a powerful Rock-type Pokemon to beat Enamorus since it’s part-Flying, the 5-Star Pokemon GO boss can also use Grass Knot as a Charged Attack, meaning it can also beat Rock-types along any Ground- or Water-types you could have at least used for neutral damage.
Alternatively, you can always rely on counters of different types that can still use moves of Enamorus’ five weaknesses. On the other hand, you’d then be missing out on the crucial 20% STAB (same-type attack bonus) that kicks in when a Pokemon use a move of the same type.

The best counters Pokemon GO players can use to beat Incarnate Enamorus are Steel-, Electric- and Ice-types that can use moves of the same type such as Raikou, Excadrill, and Articuno.
The full list of ideal counters, including their movesets, are as follows:
Pokemon | Fast Move | Charged Move |
---|---|---|
![]() Raikou | Thunder Shock | Wild Charge |
![]() Zapdos | Thunder Shock | Wild Charge |
![]() Magnezone | Volt Switch | Wild Charge |
![]() Excadrill | Metal Claw | Iron Head |
![]() Xurkitree | Thunder Shock | Discharge |
![]() Melmetal | Thunder Shock | Double Iron Bash |
![]() Articuno | Frost Breath | Triple Axel |
![]() Manectric (Mega or base form) | Thunder Fang | Wild Charge |
![]() Electivire | Thunder Shock | Wild Charge |
![]() Aerodactyl (Mega or base form) | Rock Throw | Rock Slide |
While there may be some strong contenders of those types like Metagross that come to mind, you’ll also need to think about any secondary types that may open up additional weaknesses. In Metagross’ case, its part-Psychic typing makes it weak to Enamorus’ Astonish.
Aerodactyl is one of the exceptions to Rock-types being weak to Enamorus’ Grass Knot, since its part-Flying typing cancels it out.
If you have any alternative Electric-, Steel-, or Rock-types to use against Enamorus, they should be fine to use as well as long as you have a strong raid party of other players. Still, be sure that none of your Pokemon have the aforementioned types in the first table above which mentions the types that Enamorus is strong against.

For 5-Star Raids against bosses like Enamoruis, Trainers need to be in groups of four or more high-level players in order to stand a chance against this particular Pokemon GO boss.
Make sure everyone in the group has some of the Pokemon listed above before jumping in. You’ll have a limited time to complete the raid after it spawns, so being prepared ahead of time ensures no time is wasted.
If you have access to Shadow Pokemon version of the counters mentioned above, they can give you can even better chance of beating Enamorus in Pokemon GO due to the condition giving the affected a 20% Attack boost.
However, Shadow Pokemon also have a 20% drop in Defense as a caveat. So, if you were planning on using a Shadow Pocket Monster which was already fragile stat-wise, don’t expect them to last long against a powerful boss like this one.
No, even in its Incarnate form, Enamorus cannot be Shiny in Pokemon GO. This isn’t too much of a surprise since the Legendary was only added to the game a year ago, and a Pokemon’s Shiny version is almost never added shortly afterwards.
It’s more than likely Shiny Enamorus will make its Pokemon GO debut in a future dedicated event, such as one centred around the next Valentine’s Day.
