Brighter Shores is a brand new, point-and-click explorer inspired by the popular massively multiplayer online game (MMORPG) Runescape. You can discover several areas, professions, weapons, activities, and even interact with other players in the open world. You're not alone if you're wondering what the red and green arrows mean.
After completing the early training, you'll be able to see real players in Hopeport. These can be random online players nearby or even your friends. On top of the players' heads, you may often see red or green arrows and other symbols. These arrows indicate the equipment level and whether they are average, above average, or below average in comparison to their level. The symbols next to a player's name denotes the player's faction. You can check this in detail via the Community menu, here's how:
I don't understand the relevancy of this stat or indicator in Brighter Stones. Because there is no PvP yet, there is no point in comparing your equipment stats with other players. Some other players also share the same thought as there is no way to purchase armor or weapons as of now.
Another instance where I've seen the red and green arrows is while swapping armor pieces as you can see in the above image. Here it's quite obvious that arrows indicate what stat one item is better at compared to the other, so the arrows essentially act as a comparison tool in this case. If you've found new armor or weapons, check whether they are worth replacing with your current weapon via the stat comparison screen.
